Timing relative to your billing date can matter, and prepaid dues or an initial term may apply. Ask what date the cancellation takes effect and whether any final charge is due. Personal-training memberships have separate terms in their own agreement.
Some states set rules for gym contracts and cancellation. If you are stuck, your state attorney general or consumer protection office is a good place to check your rights.
